Matheson Place Play Park

The Matheson Place Play Park group formed in 2021 with a vision to create a brand-new accessible play park facility in a derelict site at Matheson Place, Portree.

Residents Tiffany Maberley, Sarah Nisbit and Fiona Stoddart have formed a committee under the umbrella of The Portree & Braes Community Trust and are receiving support from The Highland Council to help drive the project forward. The site has been mostly cleared (by Gary Shinnie, Alex Latton and his team and Robert Macdonald) and good progress is being made to progress plans.  There are so many processes in a project like this that it takes time to move forward. However, with a team of people bringing a whole range of different skills to the table, the committee are hopeful that they will achieve their goal.

The team have so far had lots of meetings and managed to have a 3D plan produced of what the playpark will look like by Kompan, who also supplied Kyleakin's new play park in 2021. As of August 2022 almost 50% of the £110,000 required to build the park has been raised through a mix of local fundraising and grants!

The objective is to have a new play park in place before Easter 2023. All funds raised will go directly towards the construction and maintenance of a new play park and donations are hugely appreciated, large and small! Click here to support the Just Giving fundraiser.

If you would help to run your own fundraiser for the project, we'd also love to hear from you! Get in touch at info@portreeandbraes.org

All who have worked on this so far have done so voluntarily, and the committee could not have got this far without everyone's help, so they would like to extend a huge thank you to all involved so far!
