Sconser Integration

Important Question for members

Portree and Braes Community Trust have been approached by Sconser Community Council to consider extending their geographic reach to cover the Sconser Community Council area. The Portree and Braes Community Council shares a border with Sconser Community Council.  Sconser Community Council have seen how Portree and Braes Community Trust and Portree and Braes Community Council work together for the good of the area and would like to be in a position where they could call on support with projects where appropriate and, through the trust, access funds which were not available to the Community Councils.  The population of Sconser is approximately 130.

In order to take this forward, we need to ask our membership whether they are in support of extending the Trust’s geographic boundary to include the Sconser Community Council area. This is represented by a line just north of Sligachan Hotel, along the head of Loch Sligachan, through Sconser village, Druim na  Cleòchd, to a point on Loch Ainort, just north of Aricharnach and including a large proportion of the Red Cuillin.  A Highland Council boundary map of the area is available here.

In order to progress this request, our constitution directs us to put the question to our membership.

Are you in favour of extending the Portree and Braes Community Trust’s geographical boundary south to include the Sconser Community Council area? Please leave your answer on the form below.
